These short-term (4 weeks) internships are for European students aged 14-18. Participants will intern with companies, organisations or
institutions in the social sector (e.g. day care centre or environmental projects) all over Germany
During their stay in Germany, students will be living with a selected host family and therefore get the opportunity to develop personal friendships and contribute to cross-cultural understanding .
Regardless of social, cultural and religious backgrounds,students have the opportunity to plunge into the German working world and to gain practical experience. The participants acquire both knowledge of a foreign language and useful cultural skills. Furthermore they learn to overcome prejudices, limitations and conflicts.

School Integration + Homestay in Germany :
Our individual homestay and high school program offer you the chance to become familiar with Germany through direct contact with its people, while speaking with Germans about your country and culture at the same time. You will live in a host family and become part of their everyday life, be able to spend time with them, and exchange thoughts and ideas.
Location: If travelling during school term in the area being visited you will attend a German high school (Gymnasium, Gesamtschule or Realschule), Monday to Friday. Many of the hosts live in Cologne/ Bonn/ Dusseldorf areas but may be located in various regions.
Ages: All applicants must be between 14 and 18 years of age.
Conditions of participation: One student per family only. Participants should be able to communicate in German with A2 level of proficiency.
You should be willing to talk to your host family about your home country and to take part actively in their family life.
Host Families in Germany: Hosts can be families, single persons, single-parent families, and young or elderly individuals. We do our best to place young participants in a family with children of the same age, however cannot guarantee this. Often, these hosts have a job.
General availability. During German school year.  Applications must be submitted at least 6 weeks before date of proposed stay in Germany.
Airport and transfers: The host family will normally pick the guests up at the closest train station.
LONG TERM SCHOOL STAYS GERMANY
Students can opt for a school year, a semester or a school term in Germany.

School Year in Germany : End of August 2020 to Mid June 2021.
School Semester in Germany: End August 2020 to End January 2021 or end January 2021 to Mid June 2021
School Term:  Last week in August 2020. To End November 2020 or End January 2021 to End April 2021.
Application Dates March 17 for programmes starting in August.
August 15th for programmes starting starting January / February.
Late applications may be accepted if schools have remaining capacity and local coordinators can accept the student. .
An additional fee of €250 is payable for all late applications.
SHORT SCHOOL STAYS IN GERMANY
Short stays. Dates are flexible throughout the year, subject to host family availability and school capacity.
The completed application materials must be submitted at least 6 weeks prior to the desired travel date for short stays.
Application process:
All school applications must be submitted together together with an application fee of €200.
Please complete our online student application form. Applications will be and reviewed and submitted to our partners in Germany.
Schools may request additional informatiion including school and medical reports which must be supplied in a timely manner.
As soon as a host family is found, and school place is confirmed the applicant will be informed and a deposit is payable to retain the place.
The application fee is then non refundable.
Flights to Germany must be arranged by the participant.
Prices: 2 weeks €1150 : 3 weeks €1290 : 4 weeks €1390 : 6 weeks €1740 : 8 weeks €2090 :
1 School Term €2810 : Semester €4920 : School Year €6720.
Price includes accommodation and board in a host family, high school attendance as well as the support of a local coordinator in Bonn, Germany.
Full airport transfer from Cologne or Düsseldorf to the host family and return will also be included if less than 50 km from the family.
Health, accident and liability insurance for the duration of the program must be purchased by the applicant.
The transfer to Germany and all costs associated with leisure activities, telephone, internet, and other costs as may arise are not included in the price.
In case of cancellation please inform us in writing immediately!
Please note there are strict laws in Germany in relation to downloading of materials from internet and students must not download files, films music or any material using the family wifi system.
Cancellation after receipt of host family information: 50% of the total program costs.
No-show: 100% of program fee.

Valencia Summer Camp is designed for international students aged 13 to 17 who want to improve their Spanish language while getting to know the Spanish lifestyle and culture. The programme will take place in a school in Valencia, one of the most attractive cities in Spain for its Mediterranean climate and wide range of attractions.
The Spanish Language summer course combines the experience of family immersion, language lessons and cultural activities. International students will stay with Spanish families, have language classes divided by language skills and a full programme of activities.  Homestay in Spain is ideal for teenagers in TY and all Irish secondary school students.
Dates: July Levels: All levels Ages: 13- 17 Length of course: 1 to 4 weeks in July

Activity Programme (per week): 3 half-day / 1 full-day
Programme:
Classes: Students will have 16 lessons of 45 minutes per week. To ensure optimal learning conditions, there will be a maximum of 12 students per class. Classes are divided by language skills (speaking, writing, listening and reading comprehension) plus one hour of Spanish culture from qualified teachers.
Activities: The activites in Valencia Summer Camp will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4pm to 6pm.
Sample of activities: Treasure hunts, games, quiz, beach activities  Sports: football, basketball, volleyball, salsa, yoga, hip-hop
DIY, photography, Valencian paella, drama. Cultural visits: Bioparc, Oceanográfic, Science Museum, History Museum.
Full day Outings:  On Fridays, there will be a one-day trip approx 10 am to 5 pm.  Examples of outings: Lake Anna, Calpe and Guadalest, Sagunto, Cullera
Accommodation: Homestay full board.
Students are accommodated in Spanish host families. The Spanish host families do their best to make sure the student participates in their everyday activities, sharing cultural and gastronomical experiences with them . Students spend the weekend with the host families
Many of the host families have children of a similar age to the international students and they also participate in the activities of the camp.
The families undergo a process of selection. A maximum of 2 students of different nationality can be placed with each family. On request, we can place two students of the same nationality together.

Host Families: Host families are carefully selected by our partner abroad. Host families live approximately 15-30 minutes from the school.
Students from different countries and different languages can be placed in the same host family. Families live in quiet residential areas.
Students receive full board accommodation (breakfast, packed lunch and dinner).
Social and cultural activities: Students will participate in
activities 4 afternoon activities a week including sightseeing, team sports, beach activities, etc. One excursion per week is also included.
Local coordinator :Meets the student upon arrival and maintains contact during stay
Qualified French leaders accompany the students during their daily activity sessions & excursions.

As an island away from mainland Europe we lack many of the opportunities for exposure to other languages which are available to our fellow Europeans. English is in high demand as a working language by many nationalities and as such we tend to rely on and expect foreigners to be able to speak to us in English and indeed most can and do. This leaves us with a reduced motivation to progress in a second or third language, and is a hindrance to our mobility and employability in the world market.
When seeking employment and work experience abroad our traditional places to go to have been the UK, Australia, New Zealand , English speaking areas of Canada and the USA. In a changing world economy including changing political and economic pressures, areas such as South America, Japan, China, French speaking Canada are becoming important destinations both as places of employment and market locations for our exports and Germany continues to be a strong centre in our European family. To continue to expand new horizons to market our products not least our medical devices, tourism and farm produce we need to be able to communicate effectively.
Marketing, sales, advertising abroad, product inserts, promotion of goods and services as well direct employment abroad are all good reasons to develop our language skills. Combining expertise in other areas, with a language gives students, employers and companies a real edge and is something which Ireland needs to be acutely aware of , as we lag behind many countries in this area.

Japan..Shichi-Go-San 7-5-3 Festival

November 15th is the Shichi-Go-San ("7-5-3") Festival in Japan, celebrated as a special day day for three and five-year-old boys (or, in many areas, for five-year-old boys only) and three and seven-year-old girls. On this day, prayers are offered for the healthy and happy life for the children.
The ages of three, five and seven are seen as important markers of in a child's growth, and also in Japan odd numbers are seen as lucky.
