General points to consider on student mobility during the pandemic
Unfortunately, no authority can predict how the COVID-19-pandemic will affect student mobility during the spring semester, so we are still forced to tolerate uncertainty. Whether or not a mobility can take place during 2021 will be determined by the local advice.
The COVID-19-pandemic can affect student mobility in many ways depending on the destination and the regulations in the destination, how the pandemic evolves in the area and the decisions made by the local authorities.

Insurance and healthcare
- Most travel insurances do not cover the costs due to the COVID-19-pandemic. Please check if your insurance does.
- Even if your insurance covers unexpected costs, the processing times for claims may be long.
- The health care in your host country may not be as high-quality as in your home country. If the pandemic situation is severe, the capacity and resources of health care may be diminished.
- Health care may not be available in English, the language abilities of health care personnel may vary and you may need to take care of things in the language of the host country.
- The price level of health care in the host country may vary greatly between countries. E.g. the price of a doctor’s appointment or an overnight stay in a hospital may vary greatly, especially outside Europe, where the European health insurance is not valid.
