Germany Ireland Student Exchange
TWO WAY EXCHANGE
A two way exchange is often called a real exchange. It is a reciprocal exchange between two selected host families. The Irish student travels to Germany and lives for a set number of weeks with their German exchange partner. They live
and speak with the exchange family as a member of the family. The German student comes to Ireland to stay with the Irish host for the same number of weeks and learns English and participates in the daily life of their exchange family. Families are
matched as far as possible by age, interests and availability to travel and host.
Programme: Our two way exchanges between Ireland and Germany provide
excellent opportunities for Irish Students to develop and improve their confidence in speaking a foreign language. German is one of the most popular European languages for Irish high school students and for business in Europe.
Experiencing a new culture and country first-hand opens the door to host of new experiences, expanding your comfort zone, which in turn can do wonders for your confidence. Learning and communicating in the German while living in Germany is without doubt the best way of learning simply because you never stop learning.
Everywhere you turn you’re faced with opportunities to hear, read, and use the German language. Basically, your entire environment becomes your classroom.
This is an ideal opportunity for second level and TY students to experience life with a German host family, to study abroad, to go to high school in Germany, to travel and improve your language skills by total immersion.
Dates: For Germany the exchange option is available during school year mainly as German students are keen to attend school in Ireland during their stay here.
